After many months of direct action by Doctors Council members, nurses, other health care workers, and most importantly, members of the Bronx community, expecting mothers can look forward to the reopening of Labor & Delivery services at North Central Bronx this fall, aided today by a generous allocation of $600,000 from City Councilman Ritchie Torres.
“NCBH will once again be an invaluable community space for women’s health, providing the breadth of services and level of care our doctors and the patients they serve expect and demand. As doctors and a voice for patients, it is our mission to eliminate health disparities that plague our City; access to comprehensive labor, delivery and midwifery services in underserved areas like the North Central Bronx goes a long way toward achieving that goal. Doctors Council SEIU looks forward to working with the Councilman and all our partners to continue to improve and expand access to meaningful, quality healthcare for all New Yorkers,” Dr. Matthews Hurley, Doctors Council 1st Vice President / Executive Director said.
