“The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in King v. Burwell protecting the availability of tax credits for eligible Americans in all 50 states to purchase health insurance. As a doctors union, representing doctors in multiple states, we believe that everyone has the basic right to access for timely, quality and safe patient care, especially the poor, underserved, minorities and middle class. Our patients, working families, and the communities we serve deserve and need this. Millions of Americans across the county have already signed up for the security that the ACA provided for themselves and their families. The purpose of the ACA, as stated in the title of its first chapter, is “Quality, affordable health care for all Americans.” We agree. This is a victory for our patients as nearly 90 percent of the men, women, and children in this country now have access to affordable insurance. We will continue to advocate for and ultimately believe that everyone, including undocumented immigrants, should be eligible for health insurance under the ACA, and that a single payer system would best serve patients and doctors.”
