July 30th marks the 50th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. As the union representing the frontline doctors serving New York City’s public hospital system, correctional facilities and clinics across the five boroughs, we celebrate these two crucial programs that provide more and more Americans with access to the quality and affordable health care they need.
Currently, four million New Yorkers are covered by Medicare and six million by Medicaid – that’s nearly half of all residents. Doctors Council SEIU is firmly committed to the ideal that everyone has the basic right to access for timely, quality and safe patient care, especially the poor and underserved. Medicare and Medicaid have helped bring the nation closer to this goal.
The programs have also opened the door to important policy conversations about improved access to quality and affordable health care coverage around the country.
Doctors Council SEIU will join New York Metro Healthcare for two special events on 7/30 in New York City to celebrate the 50th anniversary. To RSVP and for more information: http://www.metrohealthcare.net/
