ADVISORY FOR 6/14: Doctors Rally at Jacobi Medical Center to Address Staffing Shortages Threatening New Yorkers' Health and Safety

On Friday, June 14 at 12 PM ET, attending physicians represented by Doctors Council SEIU will hold a rally at Jacobi Medical Center, the largest hospital in the Bronx, to bring attention to the critical staffing shortages that pose a threat to the health and safety of everyday New Yorkers.

The physicians, who serve in New York City's public healthcare system, are currently engaged in a contentious contract dispute with H+H hospitals and other affiliates, including NYU, Mount Sinai, and PAGNY. They are deeply concerned about the lack of investment in the well-being of healthcare workers, who tirelessly care for the city's most vulnerable patients. This, in turn, compromises the quality of care that New York City patients desperately need and deserve

In addition to the rally at Jacobi Medical Center, similar events will be held at Elmhurst Hospital Center on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and at South Brooklyn Health on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Elmhurst Hospital Center, known as Ground Zero for COVID patients during the pandemic, and South Brooklyn Health, one of the few hospitals in a healthcare desert, have also been significantly impacted by staffing shortages.
